28th Estonian Open Masters Championships

28th Estonian Open Masters Championships

There were 75 participants on the first stage in Riga, then 135 in Kaunas, and 90 in the
final stage in Tallinn. The swimmers represented the Baltic States, Russia, Belarus, and Finland. The winners are Veronika Voronova from Russia (swimming club “Sprut”) and Sergei Alaskavic from Belarus (swimming club “Zubr”). These swimmers have participated in all three stages.

We have asked a member of our Swimming Club “Champions” (Valery Komisarov) to
share his impressions about participation in the competition. “On the 1 st stage in Riga, I chose
only two distances. But in Tallinn, I was brave enough to participate in all five distances.
Was it difficult? No, but only because of support of team members, good work of the organisers
and the atmosphere of friendship and sport.
I recommend all of you – don't be afraid and swim in all five distances. It is very motivating – if
you have swum not very well in one distance, you will have energy and inspiration to show
better results in the next distance. Such motivation helped me to speed up in 100m medley.
After the awarding ceremony, we had a lot of fun in the restaurant and on the Christmas Market
in the old town. Also, it was amazing to walk on beautiful night streets of Tallinn. I felt like in a
fairy-tale because of New Year’s decorations, market with a music and mulled wine.
So come and join us if you like swimming if you want to make friends and have a lot of fun!”
P.S. The organizers of the competition has received a proposal from Polish swimming club
“Aquasfera” to organise one of the stages in Polish city Olsztyn in May 2018.
The results if the competition are available here, the TOP10 swimmers and the final protocol is
available here.
